UNSTOPPABLE
Romans 8:31-39
Please open your Bibles to Romans chapter 8. There’s something in this passage that’s about to set your spirit on fire! We’re going to read these verses, but we’re going to add one word that’s going to change everything about how you see yourself and your situation.
Listen to what the Word declares:
- When God asks, “If I am for you, who can be against you?” — you become UNSTOPPABLE!
- When He promises to “freely give us all things” — you become UNSTOPPABLE!
- When He declares “no charge can stand against God’s elect” — you become UNSTOPPABLE!
- When He reminds us that Christ died, rose, and intercedes for us — you become UNSTOPPABLE!
- And when Paul shouts that “we are more than conquerors” — you become absolutely, completely UNSTOPPABLE!
This isn’t just another Sunday sermon. This is a prophetic declaration over your life! Paul didn’t write these words just to fill up parchment. Every single verse is loaded with kingdom dynamite, ready to explode every limitation the enemy has placed over your life!
That phrase “more than conquerors” — in the original Greek, it means we don’t just barely scrape by. We don’t just survive. We don’t just make it by the skin of our teeth. NO! We WIN WITH OVERWHELMING VICTORY!
Listen to what Cynthia Kersey said — and I want you to catch this. She said “the greatest resource in the world isn’t in the ground, it’s not in the oceans, it’s not in the forests. It’s in the unstoppable spirit that God has placed within His people!”
That’s why we’re here today! Not just to occupy a seat, but because there’s an unstoppable spirit rising up in this house! There’s a supernatural determination that no obstacle, no giant, no mountain, and no devil in hell can overcome!
Leonardo da Vinci understood something about this. He said, “Obstacles cannot crush me.” Why? Because when you’re fixed on God’s promise, when you’re anchored to heaven’s purpose, nothing on earth can stop what God has started!
You’re not just any child of God — you’re a child of God with a promise! You’re fixed to a star, and that star is the very promise of God that declares you are more than a conqueror! The only time we lose is when we choose to lose by not picking up the spiritual weapons God has given us!
Romans 8 reveals something crucial: God is not just partially for you. He’s not mostly for you. He’s not even 99% for you. He is absolutely, completely, overwhelmingly FOR YOU! But here’s the key — if we don’t believe it, we can’t receive it. If we don’t trust it, we can’t tap into it.
Let me tell you about the benefits of an unstoppable spirit. This isn’t just theory — this is tried and tested truth! From the greatest achievements in history to the personal victories in your daily life, an unstoppable spirit breaks through every barrier of self-doubt, pushes past every wall of negativity, and overcomes every limitation the enemy tries to place on your life!

Church, look at this wall. It represents every barrier you’re facing right now. Most people see the wall and say, “That’s it. I’m done. This is where my dreams end.” They look at how tall it is, how wide it is, and they start making excuses about why God probably doesn’t want them to go any further.
But a person with an unstoppable spirit? They see that same wall and declare, “If God be for me, who can be against me? If it’s too tall to climb and too wide to go around, then God will give me the power to break straight through it!”
How do you develop this unstoppable spirit? Is it just for special people? Just for the super-spiritual? Just for the Bible heroes? NO! A thousand times NO!
It comes through spiritual disciplines. Yes, you heard me right — SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES. It’s the training that takes an ordinary person and propels them into extraordinary purpose!
Remember what Muhammad Ali said: “I hated every minute of the training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.'”
People who possess a spirit of resilience share these defining traits:
- Purpose Clarity: They’ve uncovered their divine calling and chase it with fierce determination. Like a compass always pointing north, they maintain laser focus on their God-ordained direction, letting it guide every decision and action.
- Heart-Led Direction: Instead of following fleeting trends, they trust the deep stirring God has planted within them. This inner fire fuels their journey, even when the path seems unclear to others.
- Unbreakable Trust: Their confidence in God’s faithfulness remains rock-solid, regardless of circumstances. They stand on His promises like an anchor in stormy seas, knowing His word never fails.
- Battle Readiness: They understand life’s spiritual dimension and prepare accordingly. Like skilled warriors, they equip themselves with prayer, scripture, and wisdom for the challenges ahead.
- Community Strength: They recognize the power of meaningful connections. Like a mighty fortress built stone by stone, they cultivate relationships that provide wisdom, encouragement, and support.
- Innovation Mindset: When faced with obstacles, they think beyond conventional solutions. Like master problem-solvers, they approach challenges with flexibility and ingenuity, finding paths where others see walls.
- Relentless Forward Motion: Where most people throw in the towel, they dig deeper. Like marathon runners who’ve trained for the long haul, they keep moving forward, knowing breakthroughs often come after the hardest pushes.
Look at King David! Here was a man who understood what it meant to be unstoppable. He faced lions, bears, giants, and armies — and emerged victorious! In the shepherd’s field, all alone, he developed the warrior spirit that would later make him king. 2 Samuel 23 shows us something powerful. It says, “These are the names of David’s mighty men…”
David went from being a lonely shepherd boy to being surrounded by an army of warriors! That’s not just a Bible story, that’s a NOW WORD for our church! Listen to this Ethiopian proverb that’ll preach: “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion!” You need to catch this revelation! NO ONE – I said NO ONE – fights alone in this house! You’re not meant to be a lone wolf! The greatest achievers in history had people backing them up!
SOMEBODY SHOUT “I’M NOT ALONE!” Look at your neighbor right now – look them in the eye and say “I’M HERE FOR YOU!” Say it like you mean it!
Church, we’re standing here today because we FOUGHT TOGETHER! We BLED TOGETHER! We BELIEVED TOGETHER! And if we’re going to build tomorrow, we better STICK TOGETHER!
Even Oprah – you know Oprah – she said you can’t do it alone! But I don’t need Oprah to tell me that – I just need to look at this room!
I NEED YOU, GLENN!
I NEED YOU, ANGIE!
I NEED YOU, ANTHONY!
And whether you believe it or not, YOU NEED ME TOO! We’re in this thing TOGETHER!
Now let me tell you about one of David’s mighty men – Joseb-Bassehebeth! This man wasn’t playing games – he took out 800 men BY HIMSELF! That’s the kind of leaders we have in this house!
These are the people who:
- Took the little we had and MULTIPLIED IT!
- Led while they were EXHAUSTED!
- Trained others while they were LEARNING!
- Worked when nobody was WATCHING!
To every leader in this house – I DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE IN THE BACK CLEANING TOILETS OR ON THE FRONT LINE – I SALUTE YOU! You’re not just serving in a church, you’re MIGHTY MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD!
Let me tell you about ELEAZAR! This man fought so hard, his hand literally FROZE to his sword! You can’t make this stuff up – it’s right here in the Word!
And I see some ELEAZARS in this house today! I’m talking about our PRAYER WARRIORS!
You want to know what real warfare looks like? It’s not what you see in the movies! It’s that grandmother in the back row who’s been praying since 4 AM! It’s that young person who skips lunch to intercede for this house!
When everybody else was sleeping, YOU WERE PRAYING! When everybody else was doubting, YOU WERE PRAYING! When everybody else was complaining, YOU WERE PRAYING!
Let me tell you what these warriors did:
- When this church looked DEAD – YOU PRAYED LIFE!
- When you felt ALONE in the battle – YOU KEPT PRAYING!
- When the enemy came at our UNIQUENESS – YOU STOOD IN THE GAP!
And here’s what blows my mind: Even when you were so tired you could barely stand, even when your spiritual muscles were SCREAMING, you didn’t quit! You dropped to those knees ONE MORE TIME!
Your prayers didn’t just hit the ceiling – THEY HIT HEAVEN!
To every prayer warrior in this house – from the intercessor’s room to your private prayer closet – I SALUTE YOU! You’re not just prayer warriors – you’re MIGHTY MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD!
Can somebody make some NOISE for the prayer warriors who won’t let go?!
LISTEN UP! This is for every warrior who stayed in the trenches when others were running for the exit! Let me tell you about someone named Shammah in the Bible who’s just like YOU!
The Bible says, “The Philistines had gathered together where there was a piece of ground full of lentils – But he positioned himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines!”
Y’all, this is YOUR story! When others cut and run at the first sign of trouble, you STOOD YOUR GROUND!
Let me paint this picture for you: Some people were only here for the harvest party. They loved the celebration, the good times, the abundance. But when the party turned into warfare, when celebration turned into struggle – THEY BOUNCED!
BUT NOT YOU!
- When the battle got TOUGH – You fought HARDER!
- When exhaustion hit you like a truck – You stood STRONGER!
- When the easy path was saying “QUIT” – You said “NOT TODAY!”
You didn’t just defend a field of lentils – you defended the vision God gave us! You protected the house when others abandoned it! And let me tell you something right now – you are the Shammahs of this generation! When others saw a lost cause, you saw holy ground worth fighting for!
To every single one of you who refused to throw in the towel:
- Who kept showing up when showing up was hard
- Who kept believing when believing seemed foolish
- Who kept fighting when the fight seemed impossible
I SALUTE YOU! You’re not just church members – you’re MIGHTY MEN AND WOMEN OF GOD! And I count it the highest honor to fight alongside you in this army! This is your moment! This is your recognition! You didn’t stay for the applause, but God sees your faithfulness, and your loyalty is being honored today! Can somebody make some noise for the warriors who wouldn’t quit?!
Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you about three nameless heroes! The Bible says David was thirsty – not for any water, but for water from the well of Bethlehem. And these three mighty men broke through enemy lines just to get their king a drink!
That’s sacrifice! That’s devotion! And I see that same spirit in this house today!
I’m looking at people who:
- Gave when their bank account said “impossible!”
- Served when their schedule said “no way!”
- Showed up when their body said “stay home!”
- Put God’s house first when the world said “take care of yourself!”
These mighty men and women didn’t ask for recognition. They didn’t need their names in lights. They just saw a need and met it, saw a gap and filled it!
And here’s what I love about our God – He sees it ALL! He knows exactly what we need before we even know to ask! Think about it:
- Before you knew you needed salvation, God had already sent His Son!
- Before you understood the devastation of sin, God had already prepared forgiveness!
- Before you realized peace of mind was worth more than money, God had it wrapped up as a gift!
- Before you knew you’d need strength for today, God had already made you more than a conqueror!
So to every unnamed hero in this house – every person who’s sacrificed in secret, served without recognition, given without announcement – I SALUTE YOU!
And I declare this over you today: Just as God saw those three mighty men who crossed enemy lines for water, He sees YOU! Your sacrifice isn’t hidden from Him! Your service isn’t overlooked by Heaven!
You may be nameless in the eyes of the world, but your name is WRITTEN IN GLORY! Your reward isn’t just coming – it’s ALREADY PREPARED!
Stand to your feet, Church! We’re not just any congregation – we’re an ARMY OF MIGHTY MEN AND WOMEN, and the best is yet to come!
